We hope you have all managed something of a break over Easter, despite the difficult circumstances. Hopefully many of you have also have used this as an opportunity to put some more concentrated thought and time into your EE.

We have managed to arrange a free trial of an excellent video resource - the IBDP Portal from Ideas Roadshow which many of you may find useful for your essays. This free trial only lasts until May 15th, so make use of it while you can. You can access this resource from our Subscription Databases page (you will need to scroll to the bottom to find it).

The resource features video conversations with a wide range of respected experts across 21 of the DP subjects (not including MFL). At this stage in your investigation you will know exactly what your question is and have narrowed your focus, so you should be able to tell very quickly whether there is a video that will support your topic. While you can "Search" at the top of the screen, too narrow a search is likely to return no results so we would recommend navigating to your EE subject from the Home page and browsing the videos and clips that are available.

  • Clips are very short (usually < 5minutes) excerpts of longer interviews covering a very specific area
  • Compilations are collections of clips (around 20-30 min)
  • Conversations are the original interviews on which all the other resources are based. Each conversation lasts about 1 hour but is divided into chapters. They also come with print "e-book" transcripts which you can download and quote from. If you are lucky enough to find an interview that deals with your topic it could be an extremely valuable source of information.

undefinedIf you do use any information from this source, please make sure that you record all the bibliographic information that you will need to cite and reference it accurately before the trial ends on May 15th, as you will not be able to access the resource after that. We strongly advise that you download and save (in a safe place) the e-book or PDF associated with any video you have made notes from, as these contain valuable citation information.
