Monday and Tuesday (18th and 19th of May) are your EE Writing Days. You will be off-timetable for these two days so that you can focus on your EE. This time is precious, so make good use of it.

What do I need to do?

1. Work through the resources on the EE Seminar 3 and IT Workshop 2 tab of the IB Extended Essay General Guide on Monday morning. There are 4 videos for you to watch and a very short quiz to complete. This should take you about an hour in total. Please do this whether you are ready to write your essay or not - we will be following up with students who do not do this to check there are no serious issues.

2. Make sure you have put your Research Question into ManageBac (or edited it if it has changed)

3. Spend the two days working to move your essay forward. For most of you* that means you will start writing your first draft and will be able to upload it to ManageBac on time for the 31st May internal deadline (last Sunday of the half term Exeat). Remember that your supervisor is only allowed to read and give feedback on one complete draft, so it is important to make the most of this opportunity.

4. Take advantage of all the support that is available if you need it (follow link for details). This includes four optional Teams drop-in sessions for specific questions and 1-1 support over the two days. You should already have received email invitations to these - contact Mr Foster (CJF) or Mrs Toerien (JAT) if you have not. You are also strongly advised to arrange to meet with your supervisor where possible, whether or not you think you need help, just to make sure you are on track.

Good luck! This can be one of the most rewarding stages of the process - we hope you enjoy it!

* But what if I am not ready to write my essay?Image by Clker-Free-Vector-Images from Pixabay

We understand that for some of you the global pandemic has made your investigation stage more challenging, particularly where there is practical work involved. If you are not likely to meet the May 31st deadline you must make sure you speak to your supervisor about the way forward, renegotiate deadlines and discuss how you can use these two days most productively. If your supervisor is on leave from school check the Where can I get help? box to see who to contact - but don't just do nothing!

You should still work through the resources on the EE Seminar 3 and IT Workshop 2 tab of the IB Extended Essay General Guide on Monday morning, even if you are not ready to start writing yet.
