Citing and Referencing (APA): Other sources

Let Mrs Breag know if you need help a type of source not listed elsewhere in this guide and she will put a suitable example up here.

IB students must make sure they refer to the "Documentation Checklist" (p.14) and "Elements to be Included in a Reference" (p.16-17) in Effective Citing and Referencing (IBO, 2020) throughout the writing process, and when proofreading their work. This supersedes any requirements of APA (but any major differences will be clearly noted in this LibGuide).

Other sources

Apps

The general citation for material taken from a mobile app follows the pattern:

Author, A. A. (year). Title of Software or Program (Version number) [Mobile application software]. Retrieved from http://xxxxx

Skyscape. (2013). Skyscape Medical Resources (Version 1.17.42) [Mobile application software]. Retrieved from http://itunes.apple.com

It makes sense to cite this as an 'electronic source' using the referencing tools in Word.  Make sure to use the date of the version you have used, not the date the app was originally created. With apps, it is most likely that you will be using a corporate author rather than an individual.
