F4 Research Task: Home

A guide to what to do and how to do it

Introduction

The purpose of this inquiry task is to practise some of the skills you developed last year and to explore a topic of relevance to one of the subjects you are taking for GCSE.

Task-by-task guide

Task 1

Choose which of your subjects you would like to read an article about.

Task 2

Read the article and make notes on it using the Cornell or Mapping sheet.  You used both of these in F3 (if you were here), so use the one that makes most sense to you.  You can also download them from the box on the right if you need another copy.

You are aiming to give a reasoned response to the article. Once you have made notes in the red INVESTIGATE box, think about what you have read and write your thoughts in the blue CONSTRUCT box.

Task 3

Now you have finished your notetaking, work through the 'Six Steps to Discovery' on your article, answering each question on the worksheet provided at the back of this booklet. You can download this from the box on the right too if you prefer.

Task 4

Hand in your finished booklet to your tutor - they are eagerly waiting to read what you have written.

Extension

Visit the Dive in Deeper tab above and have a look at the video for your article.  You might want to make notes on it too.  If you do, don’t forget to hand those in to your tutor as well.
