When you finally sit down to write your essay you should use the Academic Writing template.
This has been set up to help you include all of the elements you have been asked for.
However before you start writing, you need to make sure you have planned what you are going to write; that you have constructed your arguments; decided how to support those arguments with evidence from your reading; and what conclusions you intend to reach.
If you don't feel you have reached this stage yet, please go back to the Pupil Material tab and read the instructions for Stage 4: Construct.
Opening the template:
Open the Academic Writing template using the link above.
Using the template allows you to produce work that looks smart; makes it easy for your teacher to identify and helps you to remember why and when you produced it.
Immediately, save your document so that none of the work you do gets lost or accidentally deleted. In the file name, please include:

If you make reference to any text in particular, or you use ideas that you have read somewhere, you must say where that information has come from. The style we use in school is APA which is a code that, at a basic level, requires an author, a date and a page number:

Adding a Table of Contents:
To use the Table of Contents tool in Word, you need to use the 'Heading Styles' in the top toolbar. Main headings should be 'Heading 1', subheadings should be 'Heading 2' and any further sub-sections should be 'Heading 3'. If you use these, you can create and update a table of contents automatically:
